Mr. H. Gieske’s house is being much improved in appearance by a fresh coat of paint.
Rev. Searls will preach at the M. E. church Sunday, July 5th, both morning and evening.

Dr. H. W. Dornbusch, of Desplaines, Ill., was here Tuesday.
T. B. Richardson returned to his home in Chicago, Sunday.
The Palatines played the Joliets a game of ball at Lake Zurich last Sunday and defeated them by a score of 14 to 4.
O. E. Maynard is working at Desplaines this week.
Mrs. D. E. Shaw, Mrs. Luttin S. Bigsby and daughter, Grace, are spending the summer at Mr. W. Harrower’s.
The Barrington Amateur Band are to play at Wauconda, the 4th.
Misses Gochey and Downing left Barrington for their homes, Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Waggoner with their daughter, Zoe, and son Chester expect to spend the summer at Mr. W. Harrower’s.
I have just received a carload of Akron (Star Brand) Cement and a large consignment of McHenry brick. Parties intending to build will find it to their interest to call and get prices. E. LAMEY.
Miss Belle Catlow is able to be around again.
Frank Krahu has been taking a two weeks vacation and has been visiting at Elgin and other places.

Miss Maude Otis is at home to spend her summer vacation.
Guy Fischer fell from a tree while picking cherries last Monday and hurt his arm quite badly.
Several hundred baskets of cherries have been shipped from this place during the past week.
Joseph Catlow, who has been quite dangerously sick with typhoid fever, is much better.
W. E. Blaikie of Park Ridge has the best list of property on hand in this section, and the prices are within reach of all buyers. Monthly payments if desires. Several good houses to rent.
A school entertainment was given at Lamey’s Hall, Saturday evening, June 27th, under the direction of the Misses Addie Gochey, Mary Downing, Emma Barnett and Mary Frye. It was a success in every way, and showed that the children were well trained while at school. Too much credit cannot be given the teachers for its success it was something new, and far ahead of anything Barrington has seen for some time. If you were there you know how to appreciate it, if not, all we can say is that you missed a rare treat.
COMMENCEMENT EXERCISES.
Commencement exercises of the Barrington High School occurred at the German Evangelical church, Friday evening, June 26th. The church, which is a large one, was filled long before the hour for the exercises to commence. Promptly at 8:15, Rev. E. Rahn played the march as the graduates marched down the center aisle to the front part of the church. Rev. G. A. Wells gave the invocation which was followed by music by the quartette. The salutatory and essay “The Railroad” was delivered in an able manner by Frank Robertson. This was followed by an essay “The Selection and Perusal of authors” by Margaret Jennie Crowley, which contained very good advice. A song was then given by Miss Jessie Fox, which was followed by an essay “The Star of Bethlehem” by Alice Leone Hawley, which was well received. The Class History, written in 1915 by Gertrude Meyer and Alma Winter, was very interesting. Mr. Wells then gave a song, followed by an essay on “Money a Medium of Exchange” by Glenn Roy Hawley, which was well worth hearing. This was followed by an essay, ‘A View of the Indians,’ and valedictory, by Belle Robertson Clark, which was well rendered. Music was then given by Mrs. H. E. Fox; Mr. C. H. Austin delivered an appropriate address and presented the diplomas. Dr. D. A Smith made a short address and presented the eight grade diplomas; music by the male quartette was then listened to, after which the benediction by Mr. Henry. Prof. L. B. Easton may well feel proud of his class of ’91.
